Take control of one of seven grotesque bioforms and fight others to the death in this Japanese 3DO game combining first-person dungeon-crawling with turn-based fighting.

Overview

N.O.B.: Neo Organic Bioform is a sci-fi horror hybrid first-person dungeon crawler and turn-based fighting game developed by Octagon Entertainment and published by Sanyo Electric Co. for the 3DO (Platform) exclusively in Japan on December 15, 1995. Set in futuristic 2197, N.O.B. puts players in control of one of seven grotesque mutated bioforms as they explore a research facility and survive against other bioforms in one-on-one combat. The game makes use of stop-motion puppetry for its monsters, similar to tokusatsu shows at the time (such as Kamen Rider (Franchise)). One-on-one combat is somewhat turn-based and makes use of a multi-phase system, where both players first choose which action to perform (with multiple offensive and defensive techniques), then targeting which "zone" of their body part to perform that action (which determines its strength), with the highest-prioirity technique being the one performed (in a side-view perspective, similar to traditional fighting games). Along with a "Versus" mode, the game includes a single-player "Survive" mode where players can level-up their bioform and acquire new items while navigating the facility as a first-person dungeon crawler.
