Metroid: Samus Returns is a 2.5D sci-fi action-adventure platformer developed by MercurySteam (Company) (in collaboration with Nintendo EPD (Company)) and released by Nintendo (Company) for the Nintendo 3DS (Platform) on September 15, 2017.
Developed by the studio previously known for the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow series and led by long-time Metroid (Franchise) director Yoshio Sakamoto (Person), Samus Returns is a re-imagining of the 1991 Game Boy (Platform) game Metroid II: Return of Samus.
Players control bounty hunter Samus Aran (Character) as she is sent by the Galactic Federation (Concept) to the planet SR388 (Location) to wipe out all remaining Metroids that threatens the galaxy.
