Mars Mission II
Originally developed as Caverns of Mars II, this Atari 400/800 game was released years later as Mars Mission II.
Unlike the original Caverns of Mars (Game), Mars Mission II is a side-scrolling game that more directly compares to Konami (Company)'s Scramblethan its predecessor. Caverns of Mars would see a more direct follow-up in 1982's Phobos (Game), which returns to the vertically scrolling format of the original. Though originally developed by Greg Christensen (Person) in 1981 under the name Caverns of Mars II, the game wouldn't see a proper release for years, when Antic Magazine's APX replacement, Antic Software (Company), would publish the game as Mars Mission II.
