M&M's: The Lost Formulas is a comedic edutainment action-platforming advergame developed by Boston Animation and published by Simon andamp;amp;amp; Schuster Interactive in North America for the PC (Platform) and Mac (Platform) on September 28, 2000. The first video game tie-in with Mandamp;amp;amp;M's brand candies and released alongside the handheld game Mandamp;amp;amp;M's Minis Madness, The Lost Formulas star the two mascot "spokescandies" (the sarcastic Red Mandamp;amp;amp;M, voiced by Billy West (Person), and the dim-witted Yellow Mandamp;amp;amp;M, voiced by J.K. Simmons) as they try to restore the candy factory back into working order (due to accidentally letting the chaotic M&M's Minis run rampant before going on vacation). Much of the game is a 3D platformer highly reminiscent of earlier titles in the Crash Bandicoot (Franchise) series, with players controlling the Yellow M&M as he makes his way through each level while avoiding obstacles (through jumping or a spin attack) and collecting M&M's Minis from crates. As an edutainment title for kids ages 5-10, the game includes sections combining the platforming with simple math drills. It later received a console conversion for the PlayStation (Platform) a year later as Mandamp;amp;amp;M's: Shell Shocked, removing all of the edutainment sections.
