Plot

Professor Sparks, a world-renowned scientist and inventor, is leaving his home (the titular Mystery Mountain) for an important meeting. Sparks assigns one of his robots, Botley, to supervise his mischievous daughter Polly. One day, Polly comes home exasperated over the result of a history test. In order to ensure that she passes the test, she uses her father's time machine to send 25 robots back in time to alter history, thus making her answers on the test correct. Botley, seeing this development, brings the player along to help him get all the robots back from their respective time periods. Before this can occur, however, the following must be done:

A specific robot is designated for the rescue mission.
Polly then hides four objects (called Mission Clues) all over the mountain. These objects hold the secret to the whereabouts of the robot.
These items and 1000 invention points are collected. Both are attainable through playing some educational mini-games.
The Wheel of Invention is used to analyze these four Mission Clues and set up the time machine for the robot's location.
The robot is brought back to the mountain via a Recall button.
Repeat steps 1-5 until all the robots have returned.

After the robots are rescued, Polly attempts to send Botley into the time machine and to the beginning of the universe, so the "Big Bang" will be replaced by the "Big Bot", killing Botley in the process. However, Professor Sparks returns to catch Polly in the act. To make up for her tomfoolery, Polly needs to take a Latin test, which she absolutely despises.
