Overview

Players ride through hellfire in the track Nebulous.

Jet Moto 2, known in Europe as Jet Rider 2 and in Japan as Jet Moto '98, is a hoverbike racing game developed by both SingleTrac and Sony Interactive Studios America (later as 989 Studios) and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the Sony PlayStation in North America on November 11, 1997, with the European release in April 1998 and Japanese release on August 6, 1998.

A sequel to the original Jet Moto (Game), Jet Moto 2 builds on the original with a new selection of tracks, all of which sport a variety of new themes (such as a ruined city, a massive cavern, and a rollercoaster).

The game's 1998 "Greatest Hits" release is notable for being an upgraded version (known in-game as Jet Moto 2: Championship Edition) due to a mix-up with the mastering process. This version unlocks all tracks from the start, significantly improves the game's framerate (by reducing the number of active racers from 10 to 4), improves the speed of all hoverbikes, and adds DualShock support.

The original version later received a digital PlayStation Network (Concept) release (as a PSone Classics (Concept) title) in North America on January 24, 2008, in Europe on December 11, 2008. It was made available for the PlayStation 5 (Platform) and PlayStation 4 (Platform) worldwide on February 20, 2024.

Courses

A flowing river pushes players downstream in the track Hot Shot.

The game includes 10 original tracks, as well as 10 bonus alternate tracks (all of which are from the original Jet Moto (Game)). Most of these courses have an unlock requirement, with an alternate cheat code for unlocking all original tracks at once and all alternate tracks at once. All tracks are unlocked from the start in the "Championship Edition" re-release.

Riders

Unlike the original Jet Moto, the game no longer splits each of the playable riders by their sponsored team, instead sorting them by their vehicles weight (with lower-weight bikes having faster acceleration and higher-weight bikes having higher top-speed). There are half the amount of racers, and all 10 of them are in each circuit race (although the Championship Edition re-release reduces the amount of active racers down to 4).
