JR East Train Simulator
The first new entry in Ongakukan's Train Simulator series in 15 years, based on the studio's professional simulators used by JR East for crew training.
Overview
JR East Train Simulator is a train driving simulation game developed by Ongakukan (Company) and digital release by East Japan Railway Company (Company) for the PC (Platform) (via Steam (Concept)) on November 15, 2022. It was originally released on Steam Early Access on September 19, 2022, and is the first in the series to receive both a digital release and a worldwide release. A revival of the studio's Train Simulator (Franchise) series (after a 15-year hiatus since Railfan: Taiwan High Speed Rail), JR East Train Simulator has players driving passenger trains through parts of multiple JR East and related lines in Japan (Location). The base game includes a small portion of several routes (with the full Keihin–Tōhoku–Negishi Line added later) and makes use of full-priced DLC expansions for the full JR East sections of those routes (along with several additional routes). As with the rest of the Train Simulator series, JR East Train Simulation uses high-definition live-action cab footage as full-motion video for the outside view, with the speed of the video playback adjusted for the train's speed to give the illusion of driving a real-life train. Based on the industrial train simulators Ongakukan produced after the release of Railfan (Game), much of the game's physics and soundscape are authentic, with the cab instruments based on official specifications.

- Keihin–Tōhoku–Negishi Line (E233-1000 series EMU, southbound from Ōmiya to Ōfuna) - Released on April 27, 2023 as part of the Basic Pack. Originally included in the Early Access release (where it ended at Urawa).
- Senseki Line (205-3100 series EMU, outbound from Aoba-dōri to Ishinomaki) - Released on May 30, 2023. Basic version added on September 24, 2024, ending at Nigatake.
- Keiyō Line (E233-5000 series EMU, inbound from Soga to Tokyo) - Released on June 27, 2023.
- Yamanote Line (E235-0 series EMU, inner loop at Osaki) - Released on July 25, 2023.
- Jōban Line (E531-0 series EMU, outbound from Shinagawa to Katsuta) - Released on August 29, 2023 and includes a portion of the Tōkaidō Line.
- Shin-etsu Main Line (E129-0 series EMU, outbound from Naoetsu to Niigata) - Released on September 26, 2023 and only includes the Niigata Prefecture section. Basic version added on September 24, 2024, ending at Dosokohama.
- Hachinohe Line (KiHa E130-500 series DMU, outbound from Hachinohe to Kuji) - Released on October 31, 2023. Basic version added on September 24, 2024, ending at Konakano.
- Nambu Line (E233-8000 series EMU, outbound from Kawasaki to Tachikawa) - Released on November 28, 2023, bundled with the Nambu Branch Line and Tsurumi Line.

- Takasaki Line (E233-3000 series EMU, outbound from Ueno to Takasaki) - Released on February 27, 2024 and includes a portion of the Tōhoku Main Line.
- Rumoi Line (KiHa 54-500 series DMU, between Fukagawa and Rumoi) - Released on March 26, 2024 in co-operation with JR Hokkaido. Includes both in-bound and out-bound routes, as well as the portion between Ishikari-Numata and Rumoi (which was discontinued a year prior) and the option for a more realistic handle operation for this particular train.
- Oga Line (EV-E801 series BEMU, outbound from Akita to Oga) - Released on April 23, 2024 and includes a portion of the Ōu Line.
- Narita Line (209-2100 series EMU, inbound from Chōshi to Chiba) - Released on May 28, 2024, bundled with the Kashima Line.
- Kashima Line (209-2100 series EMU, inbound from Kashima Soccer Stadium to Sawara) - Released on May 28, 2024, bundled with the Narita Line.
- Utsunomiya Line (E233-3000 series EMU, inbound from Kuroiso to Tokyo) - Released on August 27, 2024.
- 'Yokosuka Line '(E217 series EMU, inbound from Kurihama to Tokyo) - Released on October 29, 2024.
- Ōme Line (E233-0 series EMU, outbound from Tachikawa to Okutama) - Released on November 28, 2024.
- Tōkaidō Freight Line (E257-2000 series EMU and E257-5500 series EMU, inbound from Nebukawa to Tokyo or Shinjuku) - Released on December 17, 2024, and includes a portion of Yokosuka Line and Yamanote Freight Line. First time limited express train.
- Hachikō Line (KiHa 110-200 series, inbound from Takasaki to Komagawa) - Released on March 25, 2025. Originally included in the Early Access release (where it ended at Gunma-Fujioka).
- Senzan Line (E721-1000 series EMU, outbound from Sendai to Yamagata) - Released on June 24, 2025.
- Tōbu Skytree Line (10030 series EMU, inbound from Kita-Kasukabe to Kita-Senju) - Released on August 26, 2025, bundled with the Tōbu Tōjō Line. It is one of the few routes not owned or operated by JR East (instead by Tobu Railway).
