GAME » on December 31, 1972
Hamurabi is a text-based game of land and resource management, and is one of the earliest computer games.

Overview

The game is based on Hammurabi, King of Babylon (Location), a city-state of ancient Mesopotamia (present-day Iraq (Location)), during 1792-1750 BC. The game, which was first developed and released on mainframe computers in the early 1970s, and then subsequently ported to home computers, is the first city-builder made. As a simulation, Hamurabi inspired later games such as Sid Meier (Person)'s Civilization (Franchise) and a number of other similar resource-management simulations.
