Gruds In Space is a graphical interactive science-fiction adventure game released in 1983 for Apple II, Commodore 64 and Atari 8 bit computers. The game was created by Chuck Sommerville and Joseph Dudar, and published by Sirius Software, Inc.
Set in a future version of the solar system during a conflict between humans and the evil Baranok alien invaders, the player takes on the role of a freelance space pilot tasked with delivering an emergency supply of fuel to a human military starship stranded on Pluto.
Typical of many interactive fiction games of this era, the player is presented with generally static graphic representations of the scenes in the game, while they interact using a text based parser. The parser interprets instructions from the player through a combinations of nouns, verbs and prepositions, e.g. SHOOT BAT WITH GUN.
In order to complete the quest, the player travels via their spaceship to many locations throughout the solar system including Earth, Venus, Saturn, Titan and Pluto. The player interacts with various creatures and extraterrestian beings including the titular Gruds, who are green aliens native to Saturn.
