Themed after the Olympic Games, Gold Medalist is a multi-sport game from SNK in which up to four players participate in nine events to win medals.

Overview

Gold Medalist is a multi-sport video game developed and released by SNK (Company) for arcades in 1988. Playing similar to Konami's 1983 game Track andamp;amp;amp; Field, Gold Medalist is themed after the Olympic Games (Franchise) (although it is not licensed by the International Olympic Committee) and has up to four players competing in nine different sports (seven track and field events, one swimming event, and one boxing event) in order to win competition medals for their chosen country. It takes place in either Seoul (Location) (for the first game "loop", which hosted the 1988 Olympic Games) or Barcelona (Location) (for the second game "loop", which would later host the 1992 Olympic Games). The game was later released as a PlayStation Mini title in both North America (on January 24, 2012) and Europe (on March 14, 2012).
