Overview
Fight.EXE is a horror-themed fighting game with comedic elements, released on itch.io (in early access) on October 31, 2020, and on Steam (Concept) on July 31, 2025.
The game uses a low-polygraphic style and CRT filtering to accentuate its story about a long-lost arcade fighting game that drove players to madness, ala Polybius (Concept). A ROM was recovered eventually, but a custom emulator, simply titled Fight.EXE, was necessary to play the game. The ".EXE" part of the title and overall story also call to mind the "creepypasta" stories of haunted/corrupted video games, which often use the .EXE file extension of part of the story title.
Within this game, the end of everything is approaching; the game is beginning to "rot", even from within the emulator. The fighters in the game all have goals that pertain to accomplishing something before the world ends, or preventing that ending.
Characters
Playable roster
- Panik Corvid - An entity summoned by the Meat Forest (Location) cult, they are disgusted by themselves and want only to die. However, they are seemingly unable to do so, and seek someone that can kill them. They fight with a meat cleaver and have multiple command grab moves. Panik Corvid wears overalls and a burlap sack for a mask.
- Duffa Snick - A goblin would-be hero with a selfish streak and a massive ego, she insists that her vast capabilities are the only thing that can save the world. She fights with a crossbow and can lob bombs in an arc, and utilize ajetpack to fly around the stage.
- Delphia Denny - A minotaur-like character, described as "raised by feral wrestlers". She is obsessed with being strong and fighting strong people.
- Dr Snick - A male clone of Duffa who looks like a balding, elderly man. He considers himself an "alpha gamer" and is fixated on video game related things and violence. He fights with a gun, which must be loaded with his super move or air special before firing.
- Q33n - A sadistic cyborg who was once a human mechanical engineer named Sherlly Monroe. She replaced all of her original body parts with cybernetics except for her brain and eyes. 4ce is her only friend.
- Crustean - A fish woman ship captain, she is determined to save the world at any costs. She fights with a tridentand uses a ship wheel as a shield, which she can counter attacks with too.
- The Khaz - A hobgoblin rock star who wants to put on one last show before the world ends, he travels to convince all of the other characters to attend his concert. He fights with his guitar, which has an axe blade on the base. He loves the movie Manos: The Hands of Fate.
- Autumn - Panik Corvid unmasked, they continue to exhibit a massive identity crisis and self-loathing. Autumn retains a command grab special similar to when they were Panik Corvid, but the rest of their kit is unique to this form, and they fight with a chainsaw instead of a cleaver (although player 2 Autumn in a mirror match still carries one along with their chainsaw).
- Evil Duffa - Stylized in all caps as EVIL DUFFA, she is another clone of Duffa and a parody of Akuma (Character) from the Street Fighter (Franchise) series. Instead of a crossbow, bombs, and a jetpack, Evil Duffa's specials involve a spinning kick like the Tatsumaki Senpu Kyaku, a Shoryuken (Concept)-like leaping uppercut, and an air fireball like Akuma's Zanku Hadoken. She borrows Q33n's Shun Goku Satsu (Concept)-like super move. She also will replace 4ce as the final boss in stories where he is fought under certain conditions, also like Akuma does to M. Bison in Super Street Fighter II Turbo (Game).
- Mirdir Phukir - A wizard/scientist who seeks the perfect form with his magic/science. He has three unique meters, each one tied to one of his special moves. Each move increases a specific meter while decreasing the other two. Upon filling a meter, he will transform into a state dictated by that meter - wizard form with magical abilities, a werewolf form with strong attacks and grapples, and a fusion with the spreading meat of the world where he fights with tentacles. His super move has him briefly combining all three forms while he fires off a number of attacks; this is also the only way for him to change back to his original form.
- Star Duffa - Yet another genetic clone of Duffa, this one parodies Fox McCloud (Character) from the Star Fox (Franchise) series - specifically, his Super Smash Bros. Melee incarnation. Star Duffa still has a crossbow, although this one shoots lasers. She only speaks in clicks that are subtitled as "**Controller Noises**"
NPC opponents and bosses
- 4ce - The final boss of most characters' story mode, he was originally a researcher of the mysterious Project Lazarus, along with Q33n, and built Fight.EXE, which houses his actual physical heart. He can summon void-corrupted versions of other characters, including Crusteanvoid and Shadow, as support characters.
- CE Panik - An opponent of Autumn and Mirdir Phukir, they are Panik with a brown skull over their head and meat pouring out of their eye sockets. After being defeated, the skull stays in place while their body falls, revealing that the skull was situated over their burlap sack.
- Crusteanvoid - An opponent in Q33n's story mode, they are a void-corrupted version of Crustean, with a grayscale staticky body.
- Dan the Man - Stylized as "dan the man", he is The Khaz' mid-boss and a head swap of him. His head is a still photo of a real-life person, probably one named Dan.
- Fight.EXE - Stylized as "fight.exe", this is Dr Snick's mid-boss and the literal arcade cabinet for the Fight.EXE game.
- Heart of 4ce - Q33n's final boss, this is 4ce with a floating mechanic and accompanied by his actual heart.
- HorseShoe Crab - Real name: Michael (or "Micheal"), this unassuming-looking regular horseshoe crab is Crustean's sub-boss and son. Although he cannot take much damage before being knocked out, he can very much dish it out, and is potentially the highest-damaging character in the game.
- Nivron - A massive dragon, and Denny's mid-boss. They approach Denny to ask for help saving their world from ending, but Denny just gets hyped at the prospect of fighting a dragon.
- Panik - One of Autumn's opponents, they're virtually identical to Panik Corvid, but has increased speed and can jump infinitely.
- Panik_real.png - A literal still image of Panik Corvid on a base that still is able to fight. Another of Autumn's opponents.
- Raven - Stylized as "raven", they are a massive version of Panik Corvid/Autumn with a crow skull for a head. They hold a limp Panik Corvid body from a rope that they use as a weapon, and can also summon the other versions of Panik as support characters. The final boss of Autumn and Mirdir Phukir.
- Shadow - Stylized as "shadow", this is a grayscale version of Panik Corvid, likely representing a void-corrupted incarnation. Mid-boss of Panik Corvid and opponent of Autumn and Q33n.
- Tank - Stylized as "tank", it is a large actual tank, driven by Dr Snicka. Duffa and Evil Duffa's mid-boss.
- Void Q33n - The penultimate fight in most characters' story modes, this high-HP version of Q33n is accompanied by an ever-present flow of void static.
