Overview

Exploding Judo Federation, or "ExploJudo" for short, is a 3D 1-on-1 fighting game released initially in early access on GameJolt and itch.io on April 26, 2022, with a full release on October 23, 2025 for Steam (Concept). ExploJudo's gameplay uniquely centers on the possibility of ending a round in a single grapple/throw, as the battlefield is littered with pressure-sensitive mines. Players are given multiple options to keep the opponent from doing this, including punches and kicks (which also build up EX meter), dashes/backdashes, jumps, and ground rolls. Defending players can also press a button that flashes on-screen to tech out of throws and prevent them from losing the round. The story takes place in the wider "Distortionverse" that also includes Schwarzerblitz (Game) and MotionSickness. While the events of the game itself are the product of Shaz Aliart (Character)'s dream, many of the characters and situations are "real" in their world, or are products of fictional content within their world.

Apple - A handsome, muscular fox boy from a series of in-universe light novels called "Fox Fire Rondeau". He is in a relationship with a woman named Rondeau, who is also in a relationship with a robot woman named Mia.
Beatriz Gattonero - A halfItalian, half Iranian catgirl who is one of an alleged 50 or so children of the influential Reno Gattonero. She has countless hobbies but judo is her main passion.
Bura Malebolge - An intesex half-breed of two ethnicities of the shoiga alien species, rhepp and sannzo. They work as a waiter at the Lighthouse Pub and is dating Lazor Lorya from Schwarzerblitz. At the time of the events of ExploJudo, Bura and Lazor are staying with Lazor's business partner, Shaz.
Callowman (Character) - A guest character from Callowman Vs. The Star Force! and Duels of Fortune (Game). An inept and clumsy superhero with no legs who floats instead.
Gaetano Trasimeno - Shaz Aliart from Schwarzerblitz, under one of his many aliases. The entire game's premise is inside a series of delirious dreams he's having. Maybe.
I.N.A.B.A. - A sadistic, foul-mouthed, meme-obsessed robot girl pop singer with bunny ears. She actually runs off of backup data of H-168 Krave, one of the antagonists of Schwarzerblitz.
Junrao Kurakurapiko - A character from the in-universe tokusatsu show Blazing Fist. The version of Junrao that exists in Shaz' dream (and thus, in the game as well) pulls traits from Junrao, and the MotionSickness characters Mir Kovalev and Kenzo Koiyama, likely due to Junrao's actor in the show Kenzo Fukuna providing motion capture (in-universe) for Kovalev and sharing a name with Koiyama.
MIRAI Nanami - An artificially produced pop star - essentially like a thinking vocaloid in a gynoid chassis - and rival of I.N.A.B.A. Her predecessor, the first Nanami, was allegedly destroyed in an accident and lost at sea, but rumors persist that the "death" was faked and she is the same model. She also may be one and the same as 47-Shishichi, a model of robot who sang more filthy lyrics as opposed to Nanami's squeaky clean image. She also portrayed herself in a sequel to an in-universe movie based on the events of Schwarzerblitz, titled Schwarzerblitz II: Flashback.
Prince Barion Entelechia - Antagonist of 8-Colors Star Guardians. After the events of that game, he's been stranded in his spaceship, running through mental simulations to keep himself (relatively) sane, with ExploJudo somehow being both one of these simulations and a series of dreams from Shaz.
Shocker the Electric Lobster - Evilobster (Character)'s character from the in-universe movie Schwarzerblitz II: Flashback, which also starred Nanami as herself and Shaz as an off-brand version of himself. Shocker's appearance in Shaz' dreams contains a mixture of Evilobster's character from the movie and his real-life self.
Yume-Yume - A mysterious woman with a television over her head. Or she is the television with a body. Or something.

Unlockable bosses

Al del Toro - Brazilian-born bodyguard of reality show maven Reiner Greschnik. He is strong, boisterous, and really attached to his sheep.
Cannon Fodder - A villain from Blazing Fist (the same show Junrao is from), he is a member of the Headcannon gang and adherent to the religious cult of the Church of the Gun Savior.
Chaingear Mk. IV - A massive chainsaw and laser-equipped dinosaur creature, and the game's final boss. It cannot be thrown until its armor meter is depleted by striking it. The in-Shaz'-dream version of the Mk. IV is actually an amalgamation of traits of the Chaingears Mk. I-IV that exist in his universe.
Random (Character) - A common hidden/boss character from Distortionverse fighting games, it is a "living", floating random select option, only this time it's wearing a dogi top and black belt.
