Overview

Dungeon Master Nexus is a JP-exclusive Saturn game in the Dungeon Master (Franchise) series. It was developed by Victor Interactive with cooperation from the original game's developers, FTL Games (Company). Victor Interactive had previously ported the first Dungeon Master to the Sharp X68000 (Platform) computer platform. More a remake of the original game than a sequel, Nexus has many new features most striking of which is fully panoramic 3D movement and polygonal enemies, as well as a slightly tweaked story and some new floor layouts. It also expands the dungeon from 13 floors to 15 and introduces several new bosses, most of which are variants on the original's iconic battle with an enormous red dragon. Other tweaks include new character portraits, new enemy types, and a simplified control scheme to account for the controller interface as well as other QoL additions like removing the need to rest (though you can still do so) and surfacing more information about items to the player. While the game never left Japan it did eventually receive a fan translation.
