Arale and Senbei Norimaki arrive on PlayStation with this action-adventure game based on the Akira Toriyama manga.

Overview

Dr. Slump is an action-adventure game released exclusively for the Japanese PlayStation. It is based on the manga of Dr. Slump, by Akira Toriyama (Person), but also on the then-recent 1997 anime TV show reboot of the property. Character designs typically take after the changed versions seen in that second anime adaptation rather than those of the original 1981 anime run. The game loosely follows a few storylines taken from the manga/anime as Arale Norimaki, a robot little girl invented by the klutzy Dr. Senbei Norimaki, goes out into the world, attends school, makes friends, and has misadventures involving Senbei's other inventions. Typically, the player progresses through an adventure game portion where Arale solves problems and learns new abilities, such as dashing or a power slide, then an action game portion where she puts those new abilities to use in 3D platforming levels. Each level is then concluded with a boss fight. The game received a fan translation in 2021 courtesy of Hilltop.
