Doughboy
Top-down shooter video game in which the player has to rescue a POW from a map filled with enemies.
Overview
Doughboy, or Dough Boy, is a top-down shooter from Synapse that was originally released for the Commodore 64. It would be later ported to the Famicom as a Japan-only release by Kemco. The unusual title refers to a nickname given to US GIs during World War I. The player is a soldier that has to cross a map filled with hazards and enemies to reach and rescue a POW. Both the player and the enemies can fire in eight directions, and the battlefield is littered with objects that get in the player's way. Players have to be especially wary of enemies emerging from foxholes and trenches: they can be spotted by the floating hats in the darkness.
