Darwin 4078
Darwin 4078 is an arcade shoot-'em-up from Data East. Its only home conversion was an MSX port from Hudson Soft, but it finally received a legit emulation release in 2021 on Switch and PlayStation 4 as an "Arcade Archives" title.
The game features gameplay inspired by Darwin's Theory of Evolution, with enemies designed to look like microorganisms, and with player power-ups evolving the player's ship's appearance and abilities.
The game was written and designed by Tomo Furukawa, who would go on to sing in the Japanese rock band Guniw Tools.
