DRL
DRL, formerly DoomRL, is an independent game that applies the classic gameplay of roguelikes such as Nethack to the familiar tropes and setting of Doom and Doom II.
Overview
DRL is a freeware Roguelike (Concept) inspired by the first-person shooter franchise Doom (Game). It contains monsters, weapons, and items inspired by Doom and Doom II, with the additions of perks, traits, classes, and a leveling-up system.
As of version 0.9.9.6, DoomRL has a graphical tileset which is used by default. Prior to this, the game featured ASCII (Concept) graphics.
In 2016, the game's name was changed to DRL from DoomRL due to a cease and desist notice from Doom franchise rights-holder ZeniMax.
