Contraption Maker is a physics-based puzzle game developed by Spotkin (Company) (later by Game Dev Castle (Company), later by Kevin Ryan (Person) himself) and published by Spotkin (later by Top Meadow (Company)) for the PC (Platform) and Mac (Platform) on July 7, 2014. It was originally released in Early Access format on August 28, 2013, and later received Linux (Platform) support on April 7, 2015.
It is a spiritual successor to the Incredible Machine series and is created by Kevin Ryan (Person), that series's original designer and programmer. Similar to that series, this game tasks players with finishing (or developing) contraptions inspired by Rube Goldberg machines, using overly-complicated chain reactions with seeming-unrelated devices and characters in order to fulfill a specific goal (such as putting a ball in a bucket).
The game received several updates since its original release, including Steam Workshop (Concept) support, online multiplayer, and interface improvements,. Several new parts, widgets, and characters have been added throughout the years, some of which are sold in DLC expansion packs.
