Overview

Columns GB: Tezuka Osamu Characters is a falling-block tile-matching puzzle game developed by Game Studio Inc. and published by Media Factory (Company) for the Game Boy Color (Platform) exclusively in Japan on November 5, 1999. A handheld entry in Sega's Columns (Franchise) series, Columns GB allows players to pick from six characters created by famed mangaka Osamu Tezuka (Person) to accompany them in games of Columns: Atom (from Tetsuwan Atom), Hosuke Sharaku (from Mitsume ga Tooru), Black Jack (Character) (from the series of the same name), Sapphire (from Ribbon no Kishi), Leo (from Jungle Tantei), and Melmo (from Fushigi na Melmo). Along with the traditional "endless" mode of Columns (as "Classic"), the game includes a unique "Puzzle" mode where players are given pre-set boards and must clear them with pre-determined sets of pieces (similar to puzzle modes in the Puyo Puyo series). It also includes a linked multiplayer Versus mode, as well as Super Game Boy border enhancements.
