Classic Concentration is a digital TV game show adaptation developed by Softie and published by Sharedata for the Apple II, Commodore 64, and DOS PCs in North America in 1988. It later received a Nintendo Entertainment System (Platform) conversion in 1990, published by GameTek.
An adaptation of the NBC game show of the same name, Classic Concentration has two contestants taking turns revealing pairs of prizes on a 5×5 board (similar to the card game Concentration), which slowly reveals parts of an illustrated rebus puzzle underneath (which can be guessed to win the round and the contestant's prizes).
Unlike some other TV game show adaptations, this is the only retail video game adaptation of the Classic Conceptration show, although the Sharedata version received a second revision in 1989 with Classic Concentration: 2nd Edition.
The Classic Concentration video game follows the rules of the game show. Two players take turns trying to reveal matching items in order to uncover parts of a rebus puzzle. After a player picks a matching pair of items on the board, they decide whether they want to try solving the puzzle. Even if a player makes an incorrect guess at the puzzle, they still retain their turn. The first to solve 2 puzzles moves onto the bonus round.
In the bonus round, there is a board of 15 numbers hiding 7 pairs of car names and an additional car name that doesn't have a match. If the player succeeds in uncovering all 7 pairs within 35 seconds, their prize is the car involved in the final match they made.
