Overview

Chuck's Challenge is a tile-based puzzle game developed and released by Niffler for iOS devices in December 2010. A spiritual successor to the 1989 puzzle game Chip's Challenge, Chuck's Challenge is built on the premise that the original game's creator, Chuck Sommerville, has been dragged out of retirement by a purple alien called Woop in order to design puzzles for him. Chuck's Challenge was released during a lengthy legal battle with the holder of the rights to Chip's Challenge, where Sommerville could not use the original game's name nor likeness. This legal quaqmire ended five years after this game's release, with both Chip's Challenge and the then-unreleased Chip's Challenge 2 receiving re-releases for the PC (Platform) (via Steam (Concept)). The game received a major update on May 2012 (known as "Chuck's Challenge 2.0") and a complete overhaul on December 15, 2013 as Chuck's Challenge 3D. The game was also used as the base for the licensed spin-off Ben 10 Game Generator (Game). Both the original game and its 2012 update were delisted.
