Overview

As the Inspector (name and gender chosen by the player) you wake up to find Catto City in ruins and your allies dying to unknown attackers. Suddenly, you get transported back in time to your first day on the job, 136 days in the past. It is up to you to manage the catgirls of Baker Squad, both in combat and at your own cafe, to try and change events before the apocalyptic future you saw comes to pass.

Catto City

The main setting of the game, Catto City is a sprawling metropolis where Humans and Felinians (cat-people) live and work together in harmony, or so it seems on the surface. By entering Catto City from the home screen, players can visit various districts (once unlocked in the Main Story) to gather fish and other resources for their cafe or their combatants, fulfill delivery orders, engage in PvP battles, and more. The City is divided into 6 districts:

Quince

A commercial district where the Baker Street Cafe is located, and where the Inspector lives.

Southport

An industrial district filled with several warehouses and power plants. Though a lot of business comes through the harbor, the residents of the area have a hard time making ends meet.

Yaozhou

A sprawling district settled by people from the Far East who have carried their traditions with them. Many antiques and works of art are produced and sold here.

Oldtown

Once a prosperous, autonomous nation known as Leidsdam until a large Anomaly destroyed the country in an instant. The survivors of the catastrophe moved to the outskirts of Catto City and settled here, but stubbornly consider themselves still people of Leidsdam. The district is run by the Church of Light and its believers.

Central District

Where Catto City's rich and powerful residents live and work.

Boreala

The sixth district located at the Northwest of Catto City.

Battle

Battle stages are done in turn-based RPG combat. You can choose up to 4 allies to fight for you in combat, matching their strengths and weaknesses to emerge victorious. The actual combat is done through a card-matching game, similar to that of Reverse: 1999, where the player must strategically select cards representing one of each character's 2 skills, matching adjacent cards to increase their power, and building up SP for the character when using their respective skill. Once their SP meter is full, they can unleash a skill unique to the character, this can include anything from dealing massive damage to enemies, or healing and buffing allies.

Cafe

Outside of story stages, players will get to manage their own cafe, assigning staff to man the counter, talking with different customers who come in, and creating drinks and food to sell to them, all resulting in gathering Catto Coins and other resources.

Development

Cat Fantasy was originally released as a China-only title on July 20, 2022, under the name "Cat Planet." In December 2023, there was a closed beta for a planned expansion into Southeast Asia (SEA). However, after complaints about heavily inflated numbers and resources to progress, the game was taken down the following month and massively reworked for a release in 2024. The game would be re-released in China and SEA in April 2024 as Cat Fantasy, with a Korean release following in May that same year. In August 2024, the game was released in Western territories, with full English subtitles and Japanese voice acting.
