A downloadable spin-off of the Pop'n Music series, bringing it to Western markets with nine music tracks, online multiplayer, and an optional motion control mode.

Overview

Beat'n Groovy is a music rhythm game developed by Voltex and published digitally by Konami for the Xbox 360 (Platform) (as an Xbox Live Arcade title) on October 8, 2008. A spin-off of the Pop'n Music series, Beat'n Groovy brought the series outside of Japan with a new cast of characters (in a different cartoon style), online Xbox Live (Concept) multiplayer, and a bonus motion control mode utilizing the Xbox Live Vision webcam. It features nine music tracks, all from previous games in the Pop'n Music series. It was later made backwards compatible with the Xbox One (Platform) on January 12, 2017.

Gameplay

There are two control modes, or "Button Modes": Five-Button and Three-Button. While Five-Button uses all the below buttons, Three-Button removes the Purple and Yellow buttons:

  • Purple - D-Pad Left
  • Blue - D-Pad Up / D-Pad Down
  • Red - D-Pad Right / X Button
  • Green - Y Button / A Button
  • Yellow - B Button

Several game features, such as HI-SPEED and RANDOM, are not included. Like Pop'n Music, multiplayer limits the mode to Three-Button. The game's bonus "Xbox LIVE Vision" mode utilizes the Xbox Live Vision webcam and changes it so that balls are released radially from the center of the screen to three rings (Blue on the left, Red above, and Green on the right) and players have to reach the rings at the right time to tap (similar to EyeToy: Groove).

Track List

All of the songs included are from the Pop'n Music series.

  • WE TWO ARE ONE
  • Gotta Get My Groove On
  • MOON
  • Missing Cat
  • R.C.
  • 100sec. Kitchen Battle!!
  • spicy piece
  • starmine (pop'n mixxx)
  • BEYOND THE EARTH
