BattleSphere
GAME » on 2000
A space-sim/shooter that was developed and released after the demise of its host console, the Atari Jaguar. Very few copies were ever made.

Overview

BattleSphere is a space sim with a first-person cockpit view. It was developed by 4Play/ScatoLogic and released with homebrew software that allowed Jaguar owners to play other homebrew games. Due to a limited production run, BattleSphere was rereleased two years later after its initial launch as BattleSphere Gold. The game combines its first-person dogfight combat with a strategic mode in which the player selects their next destination on various star maps, going after enemy squadrons before they can reach mission critical areas. The game also has a "Gauntlet" mode which simply consists of increasingly difficult dogfights. It theoretically supports a large multiplayer network of up to 32 players, but it was never tested.
