Origins Ascii Attack is a PC game released on Steam by Daisy Maze Games. Developed over a number of years as a personal project by Scott Bodenbender, the game intended for Xbox Live under the name Attanck! was refactored into a PC game once Greenlight was introduced by Valve. Ascii Attack is a game that pays homage to a classic arcade game by the name of Assault, which was released by Namco in the late 80s. The game had a unique control system, where players could control each individual track of their tank, making it rather difficult to control. Assault being one of Scott Bodenbender's all time favorite games became the inspiration for Ascii Attack. The ascii character art was developed as more of a necessity than of a stylization choice, because Scott was primarily a programmer and doesn't claim any art skills to his own. The end result is an arcade game with an interesting look and a challenging control scheme. Production Staff Scott Bodenbender is a veteran game programmer known for working on hit games Defense Grid, Defense Grid 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. All programming, art and production were performed by Scott Steve Kramer is a veteran game designer known for designing Kyle Petty's No Fear Racing, Super Offroad Challenge, EverQuest II, Counter-Strike:Global Offensive, and Defense Grid 2. The soundtrack was written and produced by Steve Kramer
