Overview

ABC Sports Presents: The Palm Springs Open, known in-game as The Palm Springs Open, is a golf simulation game developed by American Interactive Media (Company) and Fathom Pictures, Inc. and published by Philips Interactive Media, Inc. for the CD-i in 1991. One of the few golf games released for the CD-i, The Palm Springs Open is a simplistic golf game featuring digitized actors superimposed over real-life photos from different points and angles throughout each of the 18 holes (each of which are based on those from courses in or near Palm Springs, California). It also features play-by-play announcers.

Gameplay

ABC Sports Presents: The Palm Springs Open is played across 18 holes, based on real life Palm Springs courses. The course backgrounds while playing are real world pictures, as are the golfers. Each time the player steps up to the ball a club can be chosen. After the club has been chosen the aim is set and then a power meter slides back and forth. When the player presses the button the power is set and the ball is hit.
