While fundamentally all games in the franchise have the same underlying concept of being a boss in the criminal underworld, they very in play style. The original Mafia Wars (Game) was released on 4/7/9 and is a text based game with pictures used to spruce up the game play. Mafia Wars 2 (Game), released 10/11/11, mixes the originals game play idea with Zynga's flash based games (FarmVille (Game)) style. Mafia Wars Shakedown was announced on 10/19/11, but it is not known what direction Zynga is going in with the style.
