A Water-type Pokémon originating from the Hoenn region. Its national Dex code is #258.

A Mudkip is a mud fish Pokémon, and is one of the three starter Pokémon that can be chosen at the beginning of Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. They feature a blue body with orange gills, a head-fin, and a light blue fin for a tail. They can detect changes in water or air current using the fin on the top of their heads. When submerged in water, Mudkips can breathe utilizing the gills on the sides of its face. Mudkip can use its back fin to swiftly propel itself through water. Mudkips typically hatch on beaches and then proceed to swim to swamps where they will spend the rest of their lives.

The phrase became popular on the well-known message board 4chan.org and has since been seen, fortunately, on countless web-pages across the world-wide web.
