KVO Aarschot was initially founded as Aerschot Sport in 1924. The football club played in provincial leagues until shortly after the second World War, after which it was promoted to the third national division at the time. While the success of the team would fluctuate greatly over the years, it would never achieve a promotion higher than the third national division. In 1952, the name would be altered to Koninklijke Vereniging Aarschot Sport until 1983, after which it was merged with the nearby town of Ourodenberg. This led to the title of KVO Aarschot, which stands for Koninklijke Verbroedering Ourodenberg-Aarschot.
Under the new name, the team was promoted to the national leagues again in 1987, with jerseys sporting a big Duracell sponsorship. Duracell played an integral part in the team’s history, as well as that of the city of Aarschot (Location), providing a lot of industry to its locals in the 20th century and boasting roughly 700 employees at its peak. Additionally, the manufacturing plant is also in direct proximity to the football club, as it can be seen looming from the stadium at the Laaksite. As such, the stadium entrance was emblematic of its working class ties, having two large cylinders at the entrance gate that were painted in black and orange colors, representing the sponsor brand’s batteries. Once again, the giant batteries are enshrined as icons for the city of Aarschot in general as well, being seen on a roundabout at the edge of the city borders.

In 2007, the football club would run out of funds and be forced to restructure. It has since come out as SC Aarschot, which stands for Sporting Club Aarschot, though the team would continue to appear in Football Managerunder the old KVO Aarschot title for years. Under the new structure, the club has not made it out of the provincial leagues, despite garnering a lot of goodwill from local ties. It entered a cooperation with OH Leuven, which would go on to play in the highest division of the Jupiler Pro League. The football club also signed an ex national player for the Belgian Red Devils, Kevin Vandenbergh, who achieved 13 caps and scored 3 times total in those appearances. Vandenbergh played from 2016 to 2020 for SC Aarschot, scoring a total of 98 goals. He would go on to play for local town, Ramsel.
SC Aarschot plays in black and white colors. The Duracell batteries at the entrance gate were eventually repainted in the team colors and are now just black and white pillars, emblazoned with the new club emblem.
