History
The roots of heavy metal can be traced back to electric blues artists in the 1950s experimenting with blues rock and hard rock elements. Heavy metal eventually came together as a distinct genre in the 1960s, as a fusion of elements from blues rock, electric blues, hard rock, surf, and psychedelic.
