Overview
The guardians are defenders of heaven and Buddha that have fallen to earth from Saiyuki: Journey West. The goddess Kannon Bodhisattva tasks the monk Sanzo (Character) to find them all while journeying to India. When each one is located, they take up residence in Sanzo's staff since they can not stay on the mortal plane for long periods of time. They play an important role in Sanzo's journey while in battle provide him and the rest of his party with various stat bonuses to HP, strength, defense, and more. Unlike transformations, Sanzo can summon them as long as he has enough MP. They stay on the field of battle for three turns before turning to the staff.

Fool is a fast talking guardian that recognizes Son Goku from the time he tried to invade heaven. His element is Fire and his ability boosts the party's physical attack for three turns.
