CONCEPT

A flower-loving butterfly piñata that proves you are, in fact, what you eat

Overview

The Flutterscotch is an insectoid pi ñata found in the Viva Piñata series of video games developed by Rare, Ltd. (Company). It resembles a butterfly in its appearance, with four large wings, a proboscis, and two antennae. As with all piñata, its name is derived from the name of the animal it resembles and the name of a tasty sweet treat; 'Flutterscotch' is derived from 'flutter-by' (an alternative name for the butterfly) and 'butterscotch' (a toffee-like confectionery made from brown sugar and butter).

Color Variations

The Flutterscotch is white by default, but its color may be changed through choice manipulation of its diet. By feeding the piñata different kinds of flower, it is possible to change the Flutterscotch's color. All the permutations of this fascinating phenomenon can be seen below:

In Viva Piñata

In the original Viva Pi ñata for Xbox 360 (Platform), the Flutterscotch is one of the first piñata species that the player will encounter. It is a flower-loving pinata, and requires the player to plant daisies in their garden before it will appear. Its full range of requirements is listed below:

In Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise

The Flutterscotch makes its return in the series' second Xbox 360 outing, Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise. Its full range of requirements for both the main game and the Just For Fun mode are listed below:

Romance Requirements

In the main game portion of Trouble in Paradise, the different color variations of Flutterscotch are all treated as different species of pi ñata, and as such they all have their own individual set of romance requirements. In addition to needing a Flutterscotch House in their garden, the player must feed the Flutterscotch a particular foodstuff pertaining to their current color. These differences are outlined in the table below:

Tricks

Trouble in Paradise added the ability to teach pi ñata different tricks. The Flutterscotch has two different tricks that are consistent across all its color variations. The first of these may be witnessed by feeding the Flutterscotch a Snowdrop seed, and the second may be seen by feeding the Flutterscotch a Bluebell seed. These tricks may be learned permanently and executed on demand by using the Trick Stick.

In Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise

The Flutterscotch is one of the many species of pi ñata which appears on the franchise's DS iteration, Viva Pi ñata:Pocket Paradise. Its appearance, visit, resident and romance requirements are identical to that of the Flutterscotch in the original Viva Piñata on Xbox 360. However, its color variations are drastically reduced in the handheld version, as shown in the table below:
