Fighter Flies - old and new
The Fighter Fly is an fly-type enemy from the Mario universe. They first appeared in the Mario Bros. (Game) arcade game. Their typical movement pattern is to hop above the ground for short distances and then land. This made them especially annoying in Mario Bros since one would have to wait until they land to strike them from below; they could not be damaged while in the air, even by a POW block (Object). When they reappeared in Super Mario Land (Game) for the Game Boy (Platform), they could finally be taken down by a stomp from above.
