As seen in the Rock Band franchise, a drum fill is a section of the drum chart of the song taken out and replaced by a fill section.

This section allows you to play anything you want in the given space. Once the section is coming to an end, you can either hit the green note which activates the Overdrive or skip the fill with no penalty.
