4d Rulers was founded in 1997 by brothers Joel, Rick and Nick Huenink. Before creating the studio they owned and operated the ISP BeatriceNE.com and the advertising company Huenink Signs and Billboards.

Every game they developed was a commercial failure, and the company is now defunct. Rick went on to work for other game companies, most notably he was a senior game designer on Duke Nukem Forever at 3D Realms for two years. Richard and Joel have since started another studio, The Fun Pimps, and are currently working on 7 Days to Die.
