Whitebeard was the Captain of Whitebeard Pirates and a Yonkou also known as the strongest man in the world after Gol D. Roger's Death. His real name is revealed to be: "Edward Newgate". He possessed the Gura-Gura no mi.

History

Pre-Marineford

Not much is known of Whitebeard before the creation of the Whitebeard pirates. What is known is that he was a member of another, and said he didn't seek fortune but instead a family. Whitebeard before the events of Marineford, and during the time when Gol D. Roger was still alive. Whitebeard and Roger would have frequent bloody fights. However when Rogers found the One Piece, Whitebeard and Rogers became mutual friends, and respected both equally. Rogers met with Whitebeard before his execution to tell him about the 'will of D'. After Roger's execution Whitebeard was the new powerhouse of the sea with the epithet of "The Strongest Man in the World" and "The Man Closest to One Piece". During this time he would come to claim islands as his territory, most notably Fishman Island. On around the same time as Luffy's beginnings as a pirate, Whitebeard learned of Portgas D. Ace and his feats. After Ace's five day fight with Jinbei and his victory. Whitebeard arrived and fought Ace, afterwards seeing his potential, offered Ace a place in his crew as one of his 'sons'. Whitebeard's first appearance. Rockstar a member of Shank's crew, came with a letter from Shanks to Whitebeard. Whitebeard disappointing that Shank's didn't come in person, tore the letter, telling Rockstar for Shanks to come in person and to bring sake with him. Finally during post-Enie's Lobby, Shank's appears to confront Whitebeard, and to bring the message about how Ace is not prepared to face off against Blackbeard. Whitebeard scoffed it off and, saying he had nothing fear, then clashed with Shanks.

Marineford

Marineford was Whitebeard's most prominent appearance, and last. When Ace's execution was happening, Whitebeard was extremely enraged, and waged a war against all of Marineford(Marine headquarters) along with his New World allies. Whitebeard demonstrated his devil fruits, destroying much of Marineford in a single blow. This made all marines present shocked and at awe. Whitebeard while mostly staying on the Moby Dick, when it did come time to fight, Whitebeard would destroy every opponent. Whitebeard would fight all three admirals, taking powerful blows. When Luffy and all the Impel Down escapees fell from the sky, Whitebeard was confused then attacked by Crocodile, but Luffy attacked him(Crocodile). He then sated he did so because Ace cared for Whitebeard, impressing Whitebeard, as well Luffy told him about the execution schedule. After Ace's death Whitebeard was absolutely enraged by Akainu, and brutally assaulted him with a punch powered by his devil fruit. Blackbeard then arrived with his new crew of Impel Down escapees, Whitebeard surprised with this appearance and still extremely wounded. Then attack him with his devil fruit to no effect being nullify by Blackbeard's fruit. Then confronted him face to face then slashed him with his bisento. Blackbeard fearing for his life commanded his crew to attack Whitebeard. Though hit multiple times, Whitebeard survived, standing still shouting his last words "One Piece... Does Exist!". Even when dead Whitebeard stood tall not falling down. After his death, gave birth to a new age of piracy in the world, and Blackbeard taking his spot as one of the Yonkos.

Appearance

Whitebeard was abnormally tall man nearly three times taller than a normal sized human. He wears a long white captain coat and a black bandanna covers his head. As all of his crew Whitebread also has Whitebeard Pirates tattoo at his back and lot of cars at his chest.

Powers & Abilities

Devil Fruit

Whitebeard was the user of Gura-Gura No Mi Tremor Tremor Fruit. The Gura-Gura No Mi is the strongest Paramecia fruit and capable of destroying the earth. The Gura-Gura No Mi allows the user to create strong vibrations that can travel though ground, seafloor and air.

Weapon

Whitebeard used a long pole arm called bisento in his battles. Whitebeard also powers up his bisento with his Devil Fruit powers to make it more powerful.

Haki

Kenbunshoku Haki

Whitebeard was able to see Ace's attempts to kill him and countered them easily.

Busoshoku Haki

Whitebeard can negate Logia Type Devil Fruits with this Haki. He defeated Ace and Crocodile with this way.

Other Powers and Abilities

He was strong enough to over power giants like Vice Admiral Ronse. He also had a strong durability as he received 267 sword injuries, 152 gun wounds, 46 cannon wounds, and survived half his head blown off(manga only) and he still didn't fall in his death.
