The player character of Genshin Impact, one of two twin siblings from another world who are attacked by an unknown god and land in Teyvat.

At the start of Genshin Impact, the player chooses the sister (Lumine) or brother (Aether) twin to act as The Traveler. The twin that is not selected is trapped in a strange cube while the one who is chosen crash-lands on a distant land, the continent of Teyvat. With their powers sealed, the Traveler sleeps for 500 years on Teyvat's surface, eventually waking up and fishing out a tiny, fairy-like creature named Paimon from the sea. As thanks, Paimon teaches the Traveler the common language used throughout Teyvat over two months, and guides them on their journey. Later in the story, it is revealed that the Traveler's twin sibling (the one who wasn't selected) has become the [Prince/Princess] of the Abyss Order, hoping to resurrect the destroyed Kingdom of Khaenri'ah and reunite with the Traveler.
