Like all the creatures in the world of Yar's Revenge, The Bar-Yargler is a mutant, created from the DNA of equally mutated species that all originate from an ancient space-faring accident caused by the Qotile. He is quite old and has seen many wars but none so terrible as that between the Qotile and the Yars. He is holder of a Scrying Lens which can visualize the past of some of the people who stand in front of it. In the game he acts as narrator and guide, explaining much of the game's world and history to the confused fledgling, Yar. Also, he has the best name ever.
