Summary
Ryōshū is a woman of few words, often found smoking a cigarette, and awfully terse when talking with others, to the point she speaks mostly in abbreviations or acronyms called SANGRIA (Succinct abbreviation naturally germinates rather immaculate art). This can lead to some amusing misconceptions, such as in Timekilling Time where she remarks that the Time Ripper was "coming for that A.S.S." (Annoying, Stupid 'stache), but usually involves thinly veiled threats to S.Y.N.C. (Snap Your Neck Completely) someone she finds annoying or hostile.
Her default weapon is a large ōdachi with the words "無我夢中 阿鼻叫喚 支離滅裂" (roughly "losing oneself in incoherent agonizing cries") written on the sheath. Strangely, she never seems to take the ōdachi out of its sheath, but each one of her mirror IDs carries it on her person even when she doesn't use it in combat.
History
Ryōshū was originally a girl called Yoshihide, raised as an infant by an odd collection of outcasts from all five Fingers of the City calling themselves her Nursefathers, to become a living weapon. Canto IX expanded further on her history, how each of the Nursefathers abused her physically or mentally while honing her into an assassin. As Ryōshū grew out of her teen years, she later came across another little girl named Araya as the survivor of one of her attacks, and decided to raise Araya herself. However, the Nursefathers of the House of Spiders grew suspicious, so she decided to escape while leaving Araya behind in a T Corp safe that would make her time in there seem like a brief passing moment. As Ryōshū escaped the House of Spiders, she took out a piece of each of the Nursefathers with a powerful Relic in the form of an odachi. However, each time she unsheathed it, Ryōshū lost a piece of her memory.
When the House of Spiders attacked Limbus Company HQ, Ryōshū had to face her past with them, and eventually discovered that the Pinky Nursefather she thought she killed before was replaced by Araya. Not realizing this until after she killed her, Ryōshū's grief and despair drove her to become a living "Concept Incinerator," cutting the very memory of anyone foolish enough to come close to her, while trying to erase herself from existence. However, a memory of Araya managed to connect with Ryōshū, and formed a new sheath for her odachi, bringing her back to her senses in time to finish off the last of the House of Spiders.
Identities
Seven Assoc. South Section 6 Ryōshū is a Seven Fixer who deals in Blunt or Slash damage. Like other Seven IDs, she can inflict Rupture damage with her S1, but her S2 and S3 focus on inflicting Slash Fragility to enemies and supporting allies who deal Slash damage.
LCCB Assistant Manager Ryōshū takes on the role of Pilot from Canto V in the main story. She wields a shotgun like a Blunt weapon, and fires it for Pierce damage with her S3. Her skills apply Poise to herself and different debuffs to the enemy on Critical hits.
Kurokumo Clan Wakashu Ryōshū deals mostly Pierce damage and applies Bleed, but her S1 also applies Paralyze while her other skills debuff a hit enemy's offense.
Liu Assoc. South Section 4 Ryōshū uses her hands as flaming weapons, dealing slash or pierce damage with skills that all apply Burn on hit.
R.B. Chef de Cuisine Ryōshū takes on the role of the cannibal chef Pierre from Library of Ruina, with Gregor as Jack in this same mirror world. This Ryoshu deals Slash or Pierce damage, applies Bleed to enemies, and can heal a small portion of her allies' health after defeating an enemy.
W Corp. L3 Cleanup Agent Ryōshū deals a lot of Slash damage with her skills. Like most other W Corp identities, this one uses her attacks to build Charge on herself and make her attacks even more powerful.
District 20 Yurodivy Ryōshū inflicts Blunt or Pierce damage, applying Tremor with each hit on the enemy.
Edgar Family Chief Butler Ryōshū takes on the role of Nelly from Canto VI of the main story. Dealing mainly Slash damage, each hit applying Poise on herself, and a special "B.M." status on enemies that lets her deal even more damage to those marked with it.
Lobotomy E.G.O::Red Eyes & Penitence Ryōshū is the Safety Team Captain in a world where Lobotomy Corporation still stands. This ID is equipped with both the Red Eyes (Weapon and Suit) and Penitence (Weapon) E.G.O Equipment from Lobotomy Corporation, originating from the Abnormalities Spider Bud (T-02-43) and One Sin and Hundreds of Good Deeds (O-03-03) respectively. While dealing Blunt damage, this ID's skills build unique Red Eyes and Penitence buffs on herself that help increase her power on top of enemies suffering from Bleed.
Heishou Pack - Mao Branch Ryōshū deals mainly Slash damage and Rupture status on enemies, while building Haste on herself.
N Corp. E.G.O::Contempt, Awe Ryōshū takes on the role of Jia Huan, a recurring villain from the main story, equipped with the E.G.O. "Contempt, Awe" from the Abnormality known as Spiral of Contempt (T-03-20-04). This ID has up to 4 skills that can be triggered, all dealing Pierce damage while building up Gaze and Contempt debuffs on enemies, in addition to Bleed or Tremor status.
Drifting Blade of Hongyuan Ryōshū takes on the role of Lin Daiyu from a world where she was unable to protect Jia Baoyu during the Hierarch Family Evaluation. This ID uses Pierce attacks to build up Poise on herself and inflict Rupture on enemies, with higher Clash power possible the higher both aforementioned statuses are. Drifting Blade's Passive Skills give her a boost when working in tandem with The Lord of Hongyuan Hong Lu (Character).

Trivia
Ryōshū is based on the painter Yoshihide from the short story Hell Screen, by Japanese writer Ryūnosuke Akutagawa. Yoshihide is a painter commissioned by the Lord of Horikawa to create a folding screen depicting Buddhist hell. During the process, Yoshihide begins torturing his apprentices, to use their anguish as references of the scenes of hell which he plans to paint. Yoshihide asks the lord to set a beautiful woman on fire for his final scene; the lord agrees, and unbeknownst to the painter, he chooses Yoshihide's daughter as the victim. After watching his daughter burn to death, Yoshihide finishes the screen, then takes his own life.
