Initially a member of Overwatch's covert ops group; Blackwatch, her existence in which was controversial and kept secret to all but a few, Moira was recruited personally by Gabriel Reyes, who at the time wanted an advisor relating to the progress of genetics.

Abilities
Biotic Grasp - Healing
Biotic heals for your allies
From her left hand, Moira is able to dispense healing to allies in front of her. This ability requires her biotic energy resource.
Biotic Grasp - Life Sap
Life stealing - Moira's biotic damage
Moira's primary damage output, and has unlimited charge. Her right hand fires a medium-ranged beam that steals enemy heroes' health at a rapid rate (50 per second), also serving as a replenishment for her biotic energy.
Biotic Orb
Orbs - Pick your poison
Moira can choose between two types of rebounding spheres that make use of her biotics:
- A regenerating effect for teammates (as well as herself) that will heal 75 points per second.
- A life draining orb that deals 50 damage per second to any enemies that come in close proximity with it.
- Both types have limited damage/healing and can be depleted.
Fade
A movement ability, allowing Moira to gain brief invulnerability from all damage (including being stuck by Tracer's Pulse Bomb) while she burst teleports a short distance.
Coalescence (Ultimate)
Moira unleashes her ultimate
For her ultimate ability, Moira combines all of her biotic energy to create a powerful, long-range beam that both heals teammates, and bypasses barriers to damage enemies.
2018 Retribution Event
In April 2018, Moira was featured as one of the four main playable heroes in a PvE event mode called Retribution. It focused around the events of a mission in Rialto, Italy, where the Blackwatch team, including Moira, Reyes, McCree & Genji, apprehend Antonio Bartalotti, an Italian businessman who known to be linked with terrorist organisation; Talon.
The event was a follow up to Uprising event from 2017, Retribution being the first under the Overwatch Archives event banner.

- Moira is the second support/healer and fourth female hero to be added to the game post-release by Blizzard.
- She was announced by Jeff Kaplan as the 26th playable hero for Overwatch at Blizzcon 2017
