Lord British is based on the creator of the Ultima series, Richard Garriott (Person), who made himself the king of the fantasy world he created. Lord British hails from Earth, similarly to the Hero (later called the Avatar (Character)), but remains behind on Sosaria (the remains of which later come to be called Brittannia). While Lord British is supposed to be unkillable in most Ultima games, a number of glitches, and in one case an Easter egg, have allowed players to put an end to his life.
