You first meet Hal at Deli Vilage, he is commonly asleep on the job and woken up by Zidane, usualy he stares at Vivi. Zidane then thinking that Hal is looking at Garnet, tells him too back off and know's that shes pretty. The reason for Hal staring at Vivi is becouse the Vilage that Hal lives in, Dali creates Black Mages has slave workers that have no real soul and just follow orders.
