The first game, Grondoval is the knight who was chosen by his Lord Verkapheron to travel to the volcanic island of Char and storm Witchaven in search of the evil witch IllwyhrinIllwhyrin (Character).

 
In the sequel, he must return to  Witchaven  to deal with Ilwhyrin's  sister  Cirae-Argoth, as he is told she now wants him dead.
