A corwid of the free, he is first introduced in the first flashback to the forest, where Ghat, Animasta and Talonco are stuck in a wooden cage whilst Gabel feeds on a fallen tree nearby, his aim being to eat all of the people in the cage. As soon as Ghat beats Animasta and Talonco, Gabel breaks open the cage and fights Ghat.
