Soft-spoken leader of Squad 31-B, extremely intelligent but has trouble keeping her squad members in line.

Erika and her squad are the main focus of Chapter 2 of the main story, as both Squad 31-A and Squad 31-B are training for Operation Pleiades to establish a beachhead against the Cancer. Over the course of the story, she seems to have trouble keeping her Squad together, often finding solace in Ruka and her new band with 31-A. Erika later tells Ruka that she has a photographic memory, that she can remember both the good and bad parts of her past. Her squadmates later reveal an extra part of her past to Ruka: that Erika was the captain of Squad 29-A, and the sole survivor of the 29th generation of Seraphim, and has been wracked with survivor's guilt ever since. Even so, with Ruka's help, she learns to trust in herself and her squadmates. During the actual operation, Erika and her squad appear to perform their tasks admirably with 31-A and 30-G. However, a giant Cancer, more powerful than any the Seraph have faced before, suddenly appears. With nowhere to run, Erika uses her power to shield the other Seraphim and allows Ruka to strike it down. Sadly, Erika expends all of her power and her life forming her last shield against the Cancer's beam weapon, and dies in her squadmates' arms. Some time after, during her funeral, a Narby hops up to the altar and wears the ivy band her squadmates made for her. Though they are mad at first, they let the Narby have it, as its internal voice seems to be an echo of Erika's.
