Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3
The fourth arcade street racing game based on the Wangan Midnight manga, adding numerous improvements while switching to PC-based arcade hardware.
Overview
Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3 is a street racing game developed and released by Namco Bandai for arcades (using PC (Platform)-based Namco System N2 hardware) on July 18, 2007. The third installment of the Maximum Tune series (based on the manga series Wangan Midnight (Franchise)), Maximum Tune 3 improves upon its predecessor by adding a new game mode ("Ghost Battle", allowing players to challenge "ghost cars" based on the stats of other players), updating the Story Mode (allowing events to happen mid-game, such as new rivals cutting in), and revamping Versus play (allowing the race leader to choose the race's direction at each junction). It also adds new vehicles and courses, adds a new soundtrack (including the ability to use tracks from either Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune (Game), Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2 (Game), or Wangan Midnight R) and improves the game's visuals (with new arcade hardware). The game later received two major updates: one in December 16, 2008 (sub-titled "Maximum Tune 3DX") and one in March 4, 2010 (sub-titled "Maximum Tune 3DX+"). Both versions add new vehicles, courses, and music, with the DX+ version adding an "event mode" for tournaments.
