My favorite smell in the world is the collective smell of a beautiful yum cha restaurant in Parramatta called The Tingha Palace. Particularly during the best times in the day to go. That is to say when it's very busy and the kitchen is cooking at full speed.
Coming through the front door and being seated you aren't immediatley overwhelmed like the asian grocery stores that drive away many foreigners. The smell slowly creeps up on you and hugs you like a really gentle rapist.
