But as any writer knows, you have zero control over the people who read your story. They're may get an entirely different experience out of the story than you may have originally intended. As much as you want to read along with them and give them the "directors commentary", you can't. You must try to make your point as clear as possible if you want your audience to get the same message that you're trying to put out.
Denis Dyack seems to have forgotten his very important factor.
"...get the hell off NeoGAF."I have no problem with a developer backing his product; that should be a given. If you're not confident that what you're putting out is good, there's no reason to put it out. But what Dyack did was simply childish. Calling out a forum for bashing a game? People bash games left and right, no matter how "good" they may be (see GTA IV). He got his panties all in a bunch over the fact that people didn't see the same game that he saw.
And on top of that, he raised the game up to some sort of god status, saying that people who don't like it just "don't get it". So, am I supposed to believe that a mundane, boring combat system and broken camera are actually fantastic, I just "don't get it"?
I believe it is you, Mr. Dyack, that doesn't "get it". Not only did you question gamers (dare I say he questioned 'hardcore' gamers, since I don't see 'casual' gamers being too interested in Too Human), but you continued to insult them, calling for Neo GAF to be closed down, calling it "probably the worst forum." What's the point? Why not just have the game pause every ten or so minutes to insult the player, telling them their not playing the game correctly? Wouldn't that essentially achieve the same effect?
I'm sorry Denis, from now on, whenever I see a game with your name tagged onto it, that will be an immediate strike against it. You should have just kept your mouth shut.
