A Breath of Fresh Air: 1,200 Microsoft Points

by cann3dheat

I downloaded Braid today thinking that 1,200 point for a game with six world was a little steep and after playing through the game a time and a half, I still agree with that statement, but you get exactly what you pay for. While it may only last a few hours, it's like sticking your head out from under the covers after being under for a while; so damn refreshing. Dinosaur = character of the year...

Between the numerous homages to the Super Mario series (hell, there are even plants that come out of green pipes) and the incredibly intelligent puzzles, Braid is fantastic. While it may not have much lasting appeal, the things it does have going for it more than make up for it. The time mechanic, the pacing of the game and the ability to simply play through the game two different ways makes it worth it's steep price, and dare I say, a classic.

I'll spend some more time with it over the next few days, but let me tell you right now, five stars.
