Digimon World 4 is a game I have yet to complete but as far as I can tell I am halfway through so here are my initial thoughts. This digi dungeon crawler was a bit of a digi disapointment to me not to say its bad but it had some potential which it did not live up to. Digimon world 4 suffers from a steep difficulty curve which starts out impossibly hard but then becomes nearly unbearably easy, the second thing is that it has little variety which is strange because its a bit of an open world game so you'd think there'd be more room to explore but no anywhere you go is an objective for something. Another problem is that one of the coolest things about digimon is the sweet digivolutions but you don't get the good ones until after you beat the game and fufill odd criteria on a harder difficulty. I'll get to more of my problems and likes later.
Graphics
They're not great but its Gamecube so its excusable. Gameplay
Controls are pretty basic A attacks X jumps control stick moves you but the menus for spells and items are troublesome be cause when you open the item bag and use a potion in dire need you have to press the button again to close it which doesn't sound annoying but in the middle of a battle where potions are a neccesity it could mean death using two by accident. Combat also gets repetitive rather fast because of the lack of combos and this is made worse by the fact that constantly have to grind for xp which gets really really REALLY annoying. I suppose having to play the game twice to see all the evolutions could be cool insentive to play through again but the story is lacking andis not very good replay material. The biggest thing this game has going to for it is the word Digimon in the title otherwise I wouldn't ever have touched the damn thing. The weapon/data system is a pain because after your first weapons everything becomes to high a skill level to use and whenever you get enough data to upgrade a skill your already to high a level to use it.
Pros
+colorfull
+It's Digimon
+the character design is unique
+although the weapons (as annoying as they are) can look pretty cool
Cons

-too much repitition
-very odd weapon/data system
